In Attendance: Lynn Webber, Elizabeth Shack, Maureen Mulroy, Diana Thibodeau,
Susan Valer (for Kimberly Carvell), Melinda Tyler, Ruth Freeman, Ginny Molleur

Item #1: Regional Groups
Melinda Tyler was welcomed as the new SE Regional Rep;
Established Groups have found the following activities to be very effective in
bringing together interested member and keeping interest and participation high
o Have a guest speaker (attendance usually doubles)
o Have each agency/organization/individual introduce themselves,
resources, and services
o Conclude each meeting with a "case study" brainstorming session;
Regional group leaders would be glad to serve as a
mentor/contact person for anyone interested in starting up/revitalizing a regional
group. They suggested phone and email contact and a scheduled visit to one their
meetings;
Members of the Leadership would be willing to visit with a regional group to:
o discuss CT-PEN, NEPEF, the credential;
o brainstorm ideas for possible discussion topics, speakers.
It was recommended that each regional group be given a stipend from the CTPEN
account to support their efforts .
o It was moved that the following regional groups each be given $250 to
support their group meetings/activities Greater Hartford, Northeast,
South Central, Southeast, and Southwest (Suzanne Wallace>;
Billing invoices can be sent to Lynn Webber and she will arrange
for a reimbursement check to be cut.

Item #2: Credential Process
A brief discussion about the role that the Village's Institute for Successful
Families might play in supporting and/or underwriting the cost of the credential
process occurred;
o Kimberly was asked to arrange a meeting of interested members of the
CT-PEN Leadership Team and the appropriate folk at the Institute to
discuss mutual opportunity(s), benefits, responsibilities attending both
groups' interest in expanding training capacity of parenting and family life
educators.
She is asked to send an email to all members of the Leadership
team with 2-3 possible meeting days/times. Interested members
will notify Kimberly of their availability and she can set up the
meeting at the Institute. [Note: we all recognized that summer
vacation schedules are set and should be honored!]
Preliminary work pertaining to the credential process was discussed and the
following members of the Leadership Team have agreed to work on these "preliminaries":

o Credential Advisory Board Orientation Packet => Elizabeth, Lynn,
Maureen (will be meeting at the Uconn West Hartford campus, room #119
in the Library Building, on July 25th, 11:30 2:00);
o NEPEF Grid (to be used for vetting curricula and training workshops) =>
Diana, Lynn, Maureen (will be meeting at Diana's office on August 8th at noon);
o CT Parenting Code of Ethics/Conduct => Elizabeth, Ginny, Maureen (will be locating and reviewing professional codes of conduct/ethics and
developing a listconsistentfeatures/foci/recommendations;
o Formal Degree Programs => this was something that Carol Wiseman of
Charter Oak College was going to do. We will need to touch base with
her to see what, if anything, she was able to accomplish.
o Please Note: Everyone interested in participating in/on/with any of these
prelim groups are more than welcomed!!!

Item #3: Funding Sources
We are interested in developing a grant/funding packet which contains:
o examples of different types of request letters
o a simple overview of CT-PEN
o a brief, easy to understand explanation of the credential process
o an expense/cost outline of projects that we are/will be undertaking the funding agency can use to guide their donations>.

Please send your ideas and examples to Lynn
o We could really use other people's help in putting this funding packet
together. Any volunteers?
