This Leadership Team meeting was part-two of the previous Leadership Team meeting held at the Village for Families & Children on September 4, 2008. The purpose of this meeting was to provide more time for discussion with respect to the Village for Families & Children's offer to house the statwide parenting education credential.
Team members discussed the pros and cons of housing the credential at the Village for Children & Families:
This group determined that CT-PEN return to Charter Oak College to explore whether Charter Oak College can implement the Credential for $5K. CT-PEN will work with Charter Oak College to formulate a win-win situation.
We checked our fund balance noting that we are providing each region $250 to support their recruitment and training efforts and that we will spend approximately $500 for our orientation event for Credential Advisory Board members on October 23. The location for this event is TBD. The time of this event on October 23, will be from 2:30-4:30pm.
We spoke about the need to involve the membership in the credentialing process. Membership can become involved in 3 committees:
1. Vetting
2. Code of Ethics
3. Credential application process/forms
4. Securing 501C3 status for CT-PEN
5. Providing meeting/conference space
p2
In addition to their other roles, CAB members can become involved in these 5 areas:
1. Provide meeting/conference space
2. Marketing
3. Grant writing
4. Fundraising
5. Launching event for credential
We determined that we should include a form/checklist of CT-PEN "needs" in the CAB members' orientation packets that includes these 5 areas and provides additional space for them to specify other ways they could help CT-PEN.
After experimenting with vetting a curriculum, we agreed the vetting process can help us forge and fortify relationships versus generate animosity and competition.
We also explored the answers to the following:
Q: What's CT-PEN's role before implementation of the credential?
A: Leading efforts toward designing credential and moving it forward.
Q: What's CT-PEN's role at implementation ("9/09") of the credential?

Q: What's CT-PEN's role after implementation of the credential?
A: Fiduciary agency for the credential. How will we work with Charter Oak College?
Q: What is CT-PEN's role in the State?
